This Acceptable Use Policy sets out the rules for using Rates Goblin. It supplements our Terms & Conditions. By using the service, you agree to comply with this policy.

2. Permitted Use

Rates Goblin is designed for professional use by quantity surveyors, cost consultants, and construction project managers. You may use the service to:

  • Upload and extract data from construction quotes
  • Manage cost plans
  • Benchmark rates
  • Use AI features with proper consent
  • Export your data
  • Collaborate with team members within your organisation

3. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Upload files containing malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Upload documents you do not have the right to process (e.g., confidential third-party documents without authorisation)
  • Share your login credentials with other people
  • Attempt to circumvent device limits or usage quotas
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers to access the service
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
  • Use the service to compete with Rates Goblin or build a similar product
  • Access other users' data without authorisation
  • Use the service for any illegal purpose
  • Deliberately submit false or misleading data to manipulate AI outputs
  • Resell or redistribute access to the service without permission

4. AI Output Restrictions

Important:

  • AI-generated outputs (including NRM classifications, rate comparisons, benchmarks, and cost estimates) are indicative only
  • You must not rely on AI outputs as the sole basis for financial or professional decisions
  • You must not represent AI outputs as professional quantity surveying advice
  • You must not remove or obscure AI disclosure badges or confidence indicators when sharing outputs
  • You are responsible for independently verifying all AI-generated data before reliance

5. Upload Responsibilities

  • You must have the legal right to upload and process any documents you submit
  • You are responsible for ensuring uploaded documents do not contain sensitive personal data beyond what is necessary (e.g., do not upload documents containing National Insurance numbers, bank details, or medical records)
  • If uploading documents on behalf of an organisation, you must have appropriate authorisation

6. Organisation Responsibilities

Organisation owners and admins are responsible for:

  • Ensuring all team members comply with this policy
  • Managing access appropriately
  • Removing members who violate these terms
  • Ensuring uploaded data is appropriately authorised for processing

7. Consequences of Violation

If you breach this policy, we may:

  • Issue a warning
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account
  • Report illegal activity to relevant authorities

We will try to give reasonable notice before suspension or termination, except where immediate action is necessary (e.g., malware upload, illegal activity).
